A Fundação Friedrich Ebert (FES) está presente em mais de cem países ao redor do mundo. É com o apoio dessa rede de escritórios que a FES pretende contribuir para o debate plural no campo progressista a nível mundial com análises e propostas.
Atualmente, o debate público sobre a política financeira - tanto no âmbito nacional como também no internacional - é dominado por palavras de ordem como "freio ao crescimento da dívida pública", "medidas de austeridade" ou "redução da carga tributária". Diante desse cenário é importante insistir para que as exigências complexas à politica financeira não sejam reduzidas a essas unidimensionais palavras de ordem. O documento "Política Financeira Estruturante", elaborado pelo Grupo de Trabalho sobre Política Financeira da Fundação Friedrich Ebert na Alemanha, contrapõe ao discurso dominante da austeridade o conceito de uma politica financeira alternativa que se direciona para processos socialmente desejados e se entende como "politica de viabilização" desses processos.
Tendo em vista o debate sobre a Reforma Política, e particularmente a Reforma Eleitoral no Brasil, parece proveitoso olhar ao Chile. Recentemente foi introduzido no Chile uma série de reformas muito significativas para o sistema eleitoral, como o funcionamento dos partidos políticos e as regulações sobre o financiamento de campanhas eleitorais. Claudio Fuentes, professor da Escola de Ciência Política da Universidade Diego Portales, analisa no documento "As novas regras do jogo político no Chile" os contextos político e social e o conteúdo dessas reformas, como também as perspectivas que decorrem delas.
Finalmente complementamos essa edição de nosso Newsletter com uma nota de Esther Solano, Pablo Ortellado e Márcio Moretto sobre as "Guerras culturais e o populismo anti-petista nas ruas de 2017", baseada nos resultados de uma pesquisa sobre percepções políticas entre manifestantes em apoio à Operação Lava Jato e manifestantes contra a reforma da previdência.
